Your ByCS courses, finally sorted.

The Stroodle.eu ByCS Course Organizer arranges the course overview of the ByCS learning platform into collapsible categories: computer science, maths, administration and whatever else you need. Your Stroodle courses land in the right place automatically.

Installation in four steps

All you need is the browser extension Tampermonkey. It runs small scripts on individual websites, in our case only on lernplattform.bycs.de.

  1. Install Tampermonkey

Get Tampermonkey from your browser’s store: Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

  2. In Chrome and Edge: allow user scripts

Open chrome://extensions (Edge: edge://extensions), click Details on Tampermonkey and switch on Allow User Scripts. Without it no script runs in Chrome or Edge. Firefox and Safari do not need this.

  3. Install the organizer from its address

Copy the address below. Then in the Tampermonkey menu: Dashboard → tab Utilities → Install from URL, paste the address, Install. Opening the address directly is blocked by Chrome; the dashboard route always works.

    https://assets.stroodle.eu/bycs/bycs-kurs-organizer.user.js
  4. Reload ByCS

Open My courses in the ByCS learning platform and reload the page once. Your courses are now grouped. Tampermonkey fetches updates on its own from now on.

What the organizer does

Frequently asked questions

Does the tool change anything on ByCS?

No. It only rearranges how the course overview is displayed in your browser. Nothing changes on the ByCS server, other users keep their usual view.

Which data does the script read?

Only the course list that ByCS loads for the “My courses” page anyway: course name, short name and category. It runs exclusively on lernplattform.bycs.de and sends no data to Stroodle.eu or anywhere else. The source code is open and lives at the installation address.

What happens to courses that are not from Stroodle?

They stay, of course. Class and school courses land in “Administration” or “Uncategorised”, and you move them via the select field to wherever they belong for you.

How do I get rid of it again?

Delete the script in the Tampermonkey dashboard or disable it with the switch. The course overview immediately looks like before.

No Stroodle course in your overview yet?

Stroodle.eu is a programming and maths companion for pupils from year 6 on. Sign up and you will be the first to hear when your school can get started.
